Check all connections that are accessible, such as the connection at the supply valve and the connection point of the supply tubing onto the back of the refrigerator. If the water filter was not installed correctly, it could cause the refrigerator to leak. Please remove the filter and try installing again. Remove the filter and inspect it for cracks or damage. If the filter is cracked or damaged, replace the filter with a new one. Also, be sure the O-rings are still in place. If the O-rings are damaged or missing replace the filter. Chemicals, minerals and other impurities, found in the water, can cause the water filter housing to break down over an extended period of time, causing the water filter to leak.

With the filter removed, the water system will continue to operate. Check to make sure the water dispenser tubing has been properly connected, especially if the doors were removed during the delivery process. The water dispenser tubing is located under the left freezer door, on side by side style refrigerators.

A freezer has two water sources -- the ice maker's water supply and defrost condensation. When humidity freezes, it forms frost on the exposed surfaces in the freezer compartment and on the evaporator coil. Warm air entering the freezer, either from a leak around the freezer door's seal or from the defrost heater, causes the frozen humidity to melt.

Bad freezer door seals cause puddles in the bottom of the freezer compartment. Clogged or frozen defrost condensation drains cause overflows into the freezer compartment. Open the freezer door and inspect the ice maker, if equipped. Move the ice maker's trip lever down and run the ice maker through a cycle. The ice maker's jaws should expel the ice cubes sitting in the tray and water should fill the tray.

If the ice maker has malfunctioned, replace the ice maker. Clean the freezer door's seal and the seal's mating surface around the freezer compartment with all-purpose cleaner and a rag. Remove all mildew and debris. Hold a dollar bill against the freezer door seal and close the door. Attempt to move the dollar bill in and out of the door seal. Repeat this in several different spots around the door seal. If the dollar moves in and out of the door seal with the door closed, replace the door seal.

Disconnect the freezer's condensate drain tube from its fitting.

The tube slips over the fitting. Place a bucket under the condensate drain and flush the drain tube with warm water. If water does not flow freely through the drain tube, locate and remove the clog in the drain tube. Pull the freezer's condensate drain fitting out of the back of the refrigerator. The L-shaped fitting slides through the back of the refrigerator and into the condensate pan, found under the evaporator coil.

If the drain fitting has an ice or debris clog, flush the drain fitting with warm water. Force the drain fitting into its hole in the back of the refrigerator and replace the drain tube. The evaporator coil's cover mounts to either the freezer's back wall or its floor. Defrost the evaporator coil and the condensate pan, if needed, with a hair dryer. The condensate pan mounts in the freezer below the aluminum evaporator coil. Clean the debris from the condensate pan with a rag.

Wipe from the pan's drain hole to the opposite side of the pan. During the defrost cycle, freezers drain water from a drain tube. This water has to go somewhere or else it will leak onto your floor. There are several ways that manufacturers drain the water out of their freezer models and then store it or vent it once the freezer is drained. Unplug the freezer when doing a manual defrost or when removing the front panel to gain access to the drip pan or the drain hose. Unscrew the front or rear panel on your freezer with a screwdriver to gain access to the freezer drain hose and the drip pan.

The freezer will only drain during the defrost cycle, whether this is an automatic function or a manual function.

How to Fix Water Leaking From the Bottom of a Freezer

If it drains at any other time, there is a problem with the unit that must be addressed by a trained professional. Empty the drip pan. The freezer drain hose will drain the defrost water into a drip pan at the bottom of the freezer. When this pan becomes full, it will leak water onto the floor.

This is a regular maintenance task whenever the freezer defrosts. Empty the drip pan during the defrost cycle. Check the drain hose if there is leaking water and the drip pan is empty. The hose may have become separated from a hose coupler, or it may have been pinched or cut somehow. If the hose has separated from a hose coupler, it can be reconnected by squeezing the hose clamp and pushing the hose back onto the coupler.

Make sure the clamp is positioned over the point where the hose meets the coupler. If the hose has been cut or sliced open, insert a hose coupler into the hose and clamp it together on both sides.

Small plastic couplers are available at hardware stores. Take one end of the hose with you so that you obtain the right size coupler and the correctly sized clamps. Remove the drain plug and allow the freezer to drain if your freezer is so equipped. If the plug is not removed, the water will back up into the freezer and drain out of the bottom. Once the drain plug is removed, place a pan beneath it to catch the water, or if you are near a drain, position the freezer over it and let the water drain out.

This is most often done on chest freezers that are manually defrosted, but older manually defrosted upright freezers may also have drain plugs.

Freezer Is Leaking Water From Bottom – DRAIN TUBE FROZEN OR CLOGGED

Purge the drain line using a basting syringe. Suck the solution into a basting syringe and squirt it down the drain tube. If there is a dirt or grime plug, the solution will clean the tube and allow the drain water to run free. This method can only be done if the entrance to the drain tube is accessible. If you need to remove service panels to gain access, a professional service technician must be called. When coupling hoses, smear a little petroleum jelly onto each side of the coupler.

The jelly acts like a lubricant. There are several types of drain plug adapters, available at hardware stores or appliance shops, that will push or screw into the drain hole.To purchase a water filter subscription, you must create an account or sign in to your existing account.

Double check that the refrigerator is connected to the water supply in the back of the fridge. If so, make sure all water shut-off valves are fully open. The main valve is usually located under the sink, in the cabinet next to the refrigerator or in the basement, while additional valves may exist in the tubing. A minimal amount of condensation and moisture is normal, especially during higher humidity conditions. To avoid excess moisture buildup, limit door openings. Get all items out at one time, keep food organized and close the door as soon as possible.

Ensure door seals are making full contact with the refrigerator, so no humidity can sneak in.Your Maytag fridge has an automatic defrost system that melts the ice from the freezer coils.

As the ice melts, it drips to the bottom of the freezer, exits through a drain and collects in a drain pan beneath the body of the refrigerator where the heat from the condenser and motor evaporates the water.

Occasionally, the drain and drain line can freeze, causing water to begin to accumulate in the bottom of the freezer and begin to leak from the freezer onto the kitchen floor. Unplug your Maytag fridge from the wall outlet. Empty the contents of the freezer into an insulated cooler.

Use ice packs or dry ice to keep your food items frozen while you work on the freezer. Remove any baskets or racks from the bottom of the freezer compartment to access the drain opening. The opening will be about the size of a quarter and near the back wall of the freezer. Plug a hand-held blow dryer into a grounded outlet. If necessary, use a three-prong extension cord to reach the outlet. Melt any ice covering the drain with the blow dryer. Use terrycloth towels to absorb the melted ice.

Continue to melt the ice until you can insert the tip of a turkey baster into the drain. Fill a container with hot tap water. Use the turkey baster to force hot water into the drain to melt any ice built up in the drain line. Make sure to soak up any access water with a towel to avoid flooding the freezer floor. Continue to force hot water through the drain line until you hear the water begin to drip into the condensation pan beneath the freezer.

Do not force any additional water through the drain once you hear water begin to enter the pan.
